86% Merlot , 14% Cabernet Franc
Gravity vatting of whole berries in concrete tanks and soft extraction by pumping over and punching down
Maturing / Ageing : 14-16 months in barrels
OWNER’S DESCRIPTION
In this 2023 vintage, the Côte of Larcis Ducasse hillside was revealing all its Premier Grand Cru Classé quality. With dry conditions during the ripening of the grapes, the vines of Larcis enjoyed all the right conditions to temper and balance the excesses of the climate. Nicolas Thienpont and David Suire signed their twenty-second vintage on this first-class terroir.
Wine Advocate 93-95/100 : “Harvested between September 14 and 25, the 2023 Larcis Ducasse offers up aromas of dark berries, preserved plums, orange confit, vine smoke, licorice and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with a sweet core of fruit framed by ripe, powdery tannins, it’s succulent, suave and polished, concluding a mouthwateringly mineral finish. It’s a blend of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc”.
James Suckling 96-97/100 : “This is really classic in character, with a fine tannin structure and medium body. It starts slowly and then accelerates quickly into intense black cherries, currants and a salty note. Savory and subtle. 86% merlot and 14% cabernet franc”.
